I think of this case all the time. I was 9 at the time and we lived right next door to the killer. He was always very strange and focused on us kids outside. After Tyra was taken, I remember my mom and the mom of a friend, just one building away, would stand outside as we went to each other’s home to play. No kids were outside. It haunts me still.

I am saddened to hear of Mark's passing. During my brief (10 years), but very fun tenure in the music business, Mark would give me great advice in his eclectic memento-filled office on Oak Lawn. He was at the top of the game, on the phone verbally committing to $500K guarantees per night, while I was scouting baby bands - yet he acted as if he was just as interested in what I was doing as any promoter in Atlanta, D.C., or Seattle. This showed me the true character of the man, and although I didn't know him well enough to consider us truly friends, his door was always open to me, and I considered him a mentor. Plus we talked about other stuff that music - Freemasonry, history, etc. I always appreciated the time he spent with me. R.I.P. Mark.

My band "Daniel" played the rebuilt Lou Ann's (after the fire) many times. It was a very large high ceiling room with a large open stage. It was often packed and a great venue to play. We had played the Studio Club often and our agents probably knew Larry Lavine. Later I played with the bass player that had been with the Styx when Lou Ann's burned down. Larry Tagg, who is in the picture you posted of the Styx, later played with Tod Rundgren.

I was a 9 year old child at the time. And attended the after school day care center where Elizabeth went to. She was 2 years younger than me but I remembered playing with her there on the playground and in the activities room inside and I certainly remember the devastating time of her abduction. I have often thought about Elizabeth through the years and hoped that her kidnapper would be found and could be brought to justice. Because of this abduction I was brought to realize the world could be a scary place. I remember the main lady in charge at the day care center who had short dark hair (I can't recall her name - Lori is in my mind, but that probably isn't right - it was 40 years ago and I was a child) and how devastated she was by the abduction. There was also a beautiful young woman from Chile (also cannot recall her name) that was working there and she was an amazing artist and she would draw pictures for me everyday because I begged to to do so. About 6 months after the abduction we moved out of Dallas as my father who was a minister was moved to a church outside of Dallas. I am all grown up and a professional musician in NYC, but Elizabeth's memory still lives in me. I have written a Viola & Piano Duet that is a tribute to Elizabeth, it is called ELEGY FOR ELIZABETH BARCLAY, I am in the process of recorded it and will be putting it up on my YouTube channel. You should be able to find it with a search.

I DJ'd at Harlow's for a time, not long after Bob Thetford opened Harlow's. The original DJ apparently hit on Bob's girlfriend. He was fired immediately. I was sitting at the bar and Bob said, "you ready to DJ?" I said "let's go!" We had a drummer raised off the floor like four feet. He had an imaginary lady friend he called Esmeralda. He was a great drummer and of course, a little on the crazy side. The round dance floor was lit up and would flash off and on, circle around...we had two turntables and a ton of rock and roll albums. It was supposed to have been a Disco, but I played strait up rock and roll. I remember streaking through the place one night on a guy named Randy's shoulders. Yeah, that was weird, but hey, the crowd loved it... Randy was Bob Thetford's manager while I was there.Randy was a great big guy, like 6'5". Randy was pretty crazy, and his girl friend was a beautiful , down to earth school teacher of all things. They lived off of NW Highway and Abrams. Bob had an absolute armory in the office. It was a crazy little spot. It was a party every night. Good times! As far as Whiskey River... David Allan Coe was playing Whiskey River (Lady Smith was an incredibly talented backup group,) and I met David Allan's brother/ manager, Jack . We went over to David Allan's/ Jack's Dallas office, I think it was at the Meadows Building, if memory serves. I was trying to work a deal on selling promotional items for David Allan, hat's, tee-shirts halter tops, etc.. I started telling Jack my design ideas, he pulled out a joint, and that ended the business meeting, but I had a great pair of bloodshot eyes. Life was grand in the 70's and Dallas was poppin'. Like everyone else has posted, I'm glad I survived it all. I moved to CA in 1978, then back to Dallas in November 2019. Back in Big D. Glad to be home. Mark G

Thank you - a great write up that has allowed me to learn something of Bill and Kim Bragg's story and that of Yesterday USA radio, which I first listened to many years ago when I began exploring Internet Radio stations from here in Essex, UK.

I had a time away from YUSA & when I came back could not work out what had happened - it seems as if the various websites have not made things clear but apparently Bill and Kim cleared the way for the broadcasts to continue mostly from California.

Searchin on Twitter I found a very recent post from Mike Wolfe and others of the American Pickers program which we get here in the UK usually showing many years later. It seems there has been a fairly recent broadcast of a program where Bill and Kim's home in Richardson was "picked" by them.

It is sad for Kim - I do hope she is able to achieve a settled situation now she is needing to adjust to life without Bill - he must be a very big miss.

John, such a moving story. I am so proud and happy you made it out. You are our East Texas version of success. Proud to be your first cousin and your mom was my favorite aunt.
Hard work is always the center piece for success. Add determination and drive, you have the resipe for becoming great.

Never having been in the business but hearing the likes of KLIF to KVIL and more , it was a pleasure to link Buds place in Dallas music history. Thanks
